Adding an extra driver

Share your ride safely by adding verified co-drivers to your trip

Share your ride safely and officially with Ridee. You can add one or more trusted people to help you drive during your trip.

Who Can Be Added as an Extra Driver

  • Any friend, family member, or colleague you trust to drive responsibly
  • The person must be 18 years or older (or meet your country's minimum driving age)
  • They must hold a valid driver's license issued in the same country where the trip will take place
  • Their Ridee account must be verified and approved before your trip begins

How to Add an Extra Driver

You can add a driver at any time before your trip starts:

  1. Go to your Trips page in the Ridee app or on the website
  2. Select the trip you'd like to update
  3. Tap or click "Add Driver"
  4. Enter their name, email address and license number
  5. They'll receive an email to create or verify their Ridee account (if they don't already have one)
  6. Once verified, they'll appear as an approved co-driver on your trip

Tip: For the best experience, submit your request at least 24 hours before the trip begins.

Important Details

  • Only approved drivers may legally drive the car during a Ridee trip
  • Hosts (vehicle owners) can see the list of approved drivers in their trip details
  • The main driver remains financially responsible for the vehicle, trip payments and any incidents that occur
  • Adding a driver is free of charge but all drivers must meet Ridee's eligibility and verification standards

Changing or Removing a Driver

Need to make a change before the trip starts?

  • Go back to your trip details and select "Manage Drivers"
  • You can remove or replace an extra driver anytime before pickup
  • After the trip begins, changes can't be made until the current trip ends

Why Ridee Requires Verification

We take trust and safety seriously. Every driver, main or additional, must pass our identity, license and safety checks before taking the wheel. This protects both the host and guests from liability or misuse.
