Before your trip: Preparing for a smooth pickup
Learn how to prepare before meeting your host and picking up your Ridee vehicle
A little preparation goes a long way toward a great trip. Before you meet your host and pick up your Ridee vehicle, make sure you've completed a few key steps to ensure a smooth, safe and stress-free start to your journey.
Confirm your trip details
Before the day of pickup:
- Double-check your trip dates, pickup time and location in the Ridee app
- Review any special instructions from your host (such as where to meet or what to bring)
- Make sure your payment method is valid and your trip status shows as Confirmed
Tip: If anything looks incorrect, submit a modification request early before the trip begins.
Bring required documents
To complete pickup, you'll need to show:
- A valid driver's license that matches the name on your Ridee account
- Any other identification your host may request for verification (as allowed under Ridee policy)
Important:
- Only the verified driver listed on the booking can pick up and drive the car
- Hosts are not required to release a vehicle to an unverified or substitute driver
Inspect the vehicle together
Before you drive off, take a few minutes with your host to review the vehicle's condition:
- Walk around and check for existing scratches, dents or damage
- Take clear photos or videos through the Ridee app for record-keeping
- Confirm that key items like the fuel level, mileage and cleanliness match the trip listing
Both you and your host should agree on the vehicle's state before starting the trip. It protects you both if questions arise later.
Review trip essentials
Before leaving the pickup location:
- Confirm the return time and location with your host
- Ask about important features (fuel type, trunk release, charging port, etc.)
- Ensure you have all accessories or extras (like keys, chargers or car seats) listed in your booking
Pro tip: Save your host's in-app chat for quick contact in case of emergencies or location updates.
Safety and compliance checks
To keep your trip fully protected under Ridee's coverage:
- Never drive without logging the trip start in the Ridee app
- Always follow local traffic laws and speed limits
- Avoid smoking, vaping or carrying prohibited items in the vehicle unless your host explicitly allows it
If you notice any serious safety concerns at pickup (e.g., damaged tires, warning lights or unsafe conditions), do not start the trip. Contact Ridee Support right away for assistance.
If your host is late or unreachable
If your host isn't available at the agreed pickup time:
- Wait at the confirmed location and send them an in-app message
- If they remain unresponsive after a reasonable time (typically 30 minutes), reach out to Ridee Support
Ridee can assist in locating your host, adjusting your start time or helping you rebook another vehicle if necessary.
