Fuel, EV charging, tolls & fines

Your responsibilities for fuel, charging, tolls and traffic violations

Every trip comes with responsibilities related to how you refuel, recharge or handle tolls and fines. Understanding how these costs work helps you avoid unexpected charges and keeps things smooth for you and your host.

Fuel or EV Charging

  • For fuel-powered cars: Return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at check-in, unless you purchased a prepaid fuel extra
  • For electric vehicles (EVs): Recharge the vehicle to at least the same battery level it had at check-in
  • If you return the car with less fuel or charge than required, the host may request reimbursement through the Ridee app
  • Always keep fuel or charging receipts in case they're needed for verification

Tolls

  • Some cars come equipped with electronic toll devices. If you use toll roads during your trip, the host may charge you afterward for the toll costs
  • When no electronic device is provided, you'll need to pay tolls manually at the booth
  • Check the trip details or car description to see how tolls are handled for your specific rental

Fines & Violations

  • You're responsible for any traffic or parking violations incurred during your trip
  • If a fine or violation is issued to the host, they'll submit documentation through Ridee, and the cost will be billed to your saved payment method
  • Always park responsibly and follow local traffic laws to avoid extra costs

Refunds & Disputes

If you believe a toll, fine, or fuel charge was applied in error, you can dispute it directly in the app under your trip's payment summary. Be sure to include receipts or proof within 48 hours for faster resolution.

Tip

Check the vehicle's fuel or charge level before and after your trip and take a quick photo for your records. Transparency keeps both you and the host protected.
