Long-term or extended trip guidelines

Everything you need to know about booking and managing long-term Ridee rentals

Planning to keep your Ridee vehicle for an extended period? Whether it's for a long work assignment, a relocation or an extended vacation, long-term trips require a bit more preparation and care to ensure a smooth, safe and reliable experience throughout your rental period.

What qualifies as a long-term or extended trip

A long-term trip generally refers to any booking lasting 14 days or more. These trips often involve additional considerations such as maintenance checks, mileage management and periodic communication between the guest and host.

Ridee supports flexible long-term bookings, but it's important that both parties clearly understand their responsibilities before and during the trip.

Pre-trip preparations

Before starting your long-term trip:

  • Inspect the vehicle thoroughly at pickup, documenting its condition with clear photos through the Ridee app
  • Review mileage limits or usage policies stated in the trip details
  • Confirm maintenance expectations (e.g., oil changes, tire pressure checks) with your host if the trip exceeds 30 days
  • Plan for insurance or protection coverage that remains valid for the entire duration

It's also a good idea to share your general travel area or schedule with your host for transparency and quick assistance if needed.

During your trip: staying safe and compliant

For the duration of your extended trip:

  • Keep the vehicle clean and in good condition. Avoid excessive wear and tear or interior damage
  • Monitor vehicle performance. Report any unusual noises, warning lights or handling issues promptly through the Ridee app
  • Comply with all local traffic laws and parking regulations, especially if traveling across regions
  • Stay reachable. Hosts may periodically check in to ensure everything is running smoothly

If maintenance becomes necessary during your trip, contact your host before arranging any repairs or servicing to confirm approved procedures and reimbursement eligibility.

Payment and billing for long-term rentals

Long-term bookings may be billed in recurring intervals (e.g., every 30 days) rather than as a single upfront payment.

  • Ensure your payment method remains active to avoid interruptions
  • Ridee automatically renews ongoing trips unless canceled or adjusted by either party before the next billing cycle

If you need to extend your trip, submit a trip extension request through the app before your current booking ends.

Handling maintenance and fuel responsibilities

For trips lasting several weeks or months:

  • You are expected to maintain basic upkeep, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure and fuel type compliance
  • If a scheduled service (like an oil change) comes due during your trip, notify your host or Ridee Support
  • Follow any approved service locations or guidelines provided

Always retain receipts or service documentation for any authorized maintenance performed.

Reporting issues during extended use

If the vehicle develops any issues:

  1. Stop using the car if it's unsafe to drive
  2. Contact your host immediately through the Ridee app
  3. If urgent, reach Ridee Support → Roadside or Safety Help for immediate assistance

Early reporting prevents small issues from becoming major problems and ensures you remain covered under Ridee's protection policies.

Returning the vehicle at the end of a long-term trip

When your trip concludes:

  • Return the car clean, fueled or charged to the agreed level
  • Upload end-of-trip photos showing the vehicle's condition
  • Check for personal items before handing over the keys

If your return date changes, update it in-app as soon as possible to avoid late return fees or scheduling conflicts.

Safety and responsibility reminders

  • Never sublet, share or allow unauthorized drivers to use the vehicle
  • Avoid exceeding the vehicle's mileage limit or load capacity
  • Treat the car as if it were your own. Consistent care ensures a smooth experience for both you and the host
