Security deposits explained
How security deposits work and when they're released
A security deposit helps ensure that both you and the host are protected in case of any damages or issues during your trip. Here's what you need to know before booking.
When Is a Security Deposit Required?
Some hosts or vehicles may require a security deposit before your trip begins. You'll see this clearly displayed at checkout before confirming your booking.
How It Works
- The deposit amount is temporarily held on your payment method, not charged
- This hold is released automatically after your trip ends, once the host confirms that the vehicle was returned in good condition
- If any damages or issues are reported, the relevant amount may be deducted from the deposit after review
Key Things to Remember
- You'll always be notified before any hold is placed
- Deposit holds usually release within 3–7 business days, depending on your bank
- Ridee never keeps your deposit unless a valid claim is made and verified
Tip
To avoid any deductions, return the car on time, refuel as agreed and keep it clean and damage-free.
