Understanding trip fees & penalties
Learn about Ridee's trip fees, extra charges and how to avoid penalties during your rental
Ridee aims to keep every trip fair, transparent and easy to understand. While most guests complete their bookings without extra charges, certain situations can lead to additional fees or penalties. Knowing how these work helps you avoid surprises and ensures a smooth, responsible rental experience.
What trip fees cover
Trip fees support the safety, convenience and reliability of every Ridee booking. They help maintain our platform and services, including:
- 24/7 customer support and roadside assistance
- Secure payment processing
- Insurance, verification and trust protection systems
- Platform development and maintenance
Note: Trip fees are automatically included in your booking total and displayed clearly before you confirm your reservation.
Common extra charges
Additional charges may apply only in specific, verifiable cases. These are outlined below:
Late return fee
- Applies if you return the vehicle after your scheduled end time without host approval
- Charged per hour or day depending on delay length
- Can also include administrative costs if the delay affects another guest's booking
Fuel or charging fee
- If the vehicle is returned with less fuel or battery charge than at pickup, the host may charge the refill cost plus a small convenience fee
Cleaning fee
- Applies if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty (e.g., mud, stains, trash or odor)
- Normal light dust or floor debris is acceptable
Toll or traffic fines
- Any tolls, tickets or violations incurred during your trip are your responsibility
- Ridee may charge the fine amount plus a verified administrative fee if billed post-trip
Damage or claim-related charges
- If verified damage occurs during your trip, fees may apply depending on coverage and responsibility after Ridee's review
Avoiding penalties
Most penalties are easy to avoid with simple proactive steps:
- Return the vehicle on time. Request an extension early if needed
- Refuel or recharge to the same level as pickup
- Clean up the car interior before drop-off
- Drive responsibly and obey local traffic rules
- Communicate any delays or issues immediately through the app
How fees are processed
- Any verified fees or penalties are added to your account and charged to your original payment method
- You'll receive a breakdown and explanation before any deduction
- In case of disputes, you can appeal through Ridee → Help → Billing & Charges for review
